our sunscreen is toxic?

I read with horror in the papers a few days ago as a report surfaced that our cosmetics may contain toxic ingredients such as zinc oxide. Surely that is going to cause widespread panic?

Zinc oxide as far as i know is a common ingredient in our everyday sunscreens and BB Creams. And experts have long been warning us about the dangers of going into the sun without proper sun protection. Such conflicting advice! what do we do?

Personally, i feel that reports have been overtly exaggerated and that local media has to take responsibility for the way they cover the news. I am sure that in large amounts or if ingested the ingredient can prove to be toxic but in small ounts lied topically it can be beneficial.

A simple example would be eye cream. It can moisturise dry skin around our eye but i am sure it would be toxic if swallowed with a cocktail. I think that sensational reporting sells papers but it makes a mockery of the studies and research by wrongly extrapolating the results.

I would advice netizens to report every report with a critical eye.
